CG Weekly No. 1 - "Contingency" First of the weekly CG animation experiments. Special thanks to @betterneko for some much needed input and tweaking!
Week 4 - CG
This week we were animating a character changing expression in Maya using a pre-rigged character. I found this week a lot of fun as we didn’t have much guidance on what to do. I got to experiment with what worked and what didn’t and I am really happy with the outcome. I found that I was challenging myself and I really enjoyed the animation process.
Week 3 - CG
This week we experimented with walk cycles in Maya, I really enjoyed this week’s workshop. Although I found it quite challenging, I felt like I picked up the concept of the walk cycle, and the timing pretty well. I had a lot of fun playing around with creating different walks depending on how much you move a certain body part. I’m really happy with how my walk cycle turned out.
Week 2 - CG
This week we played around with creating a bouncing ball in Maya again, however this time we would have it bounce across the screen and hit a block. I found this fun as I was able to reinforce the skills that I had learnt in the previous week, such as using the graph editor to create a sharp bounce. One thing that I found challenging in this week was getting the ball to have the secondary action after it had stopped moving, I could not seem to get it to look right. We also began looking at modelling, which was a fun refresher for me as I had done a lot of modelling in Maya before.
Week 1 - CG Weekly Summary
This week we had an introductory session to the Autodesk Maya interface. We played around with the basic tools to get us used to using the new software. We then created a bouncing ball animation and used the graph editor to add a -slow in and fast bounce movement. Once we had finished this we were then able to play around and create something else. I decided to challenge myself and see if I could move the ball across the screen.
