Elisabeta's Proposal [part i, part ii]
Elisabeta is reading a book, sitting on her bed. Someone knocks at her room's door.
Elisabeta: Who is it?
Elisabeta gets up. The knocking intensifies.
Elisabeta: Who is it? Just a sec.
Elisabeta opens the door Darcy enters quickly.
Elisabeta: Darcy? You are soaked!
Darcy: Please, don't say anything. Let me speak first, I'm afraid you will say something I don't want to hear.
Elisabeta: Here, dry yourself, please.
Darcy: And before you get your own conclusions, I need you to know exactly how I really feel for you.
Elisabeta: What, are you afraid of being devoured by me? Is that it?
Darcy: No. I'm afraid of myself. Sit here, sit, sit.
They sit on Elisabeta 's bed, facing each other.
Darcy: All of these days afar were days of absolute torture. I've been fighting against myself and I haven't accomplished anything with that. I've been debating against my damn logic.
Elisabeta: Calm down, Darcy.
Darcy: I've also been debating against these coward and ridiculous traps made by my father, what he put between us, using our differences. I need to tell you something. What I feel about you, I can no longer suppress. I can't suppress it because it can put in danger my own existence, no matter how big the abysm it might put between us. I need you to know how much I admire you, I respect you. How badly I love you!
