She had only agreed to this because Sebastian had asked nicely, and anything HYDRA-related always landed in her email. It was the only thing she had asked of SHEILD when they had asked her to work for them. But Addie hadn't expected to end up investigating some tiny town with one main road and too many tilted little houses.

"You know I kill people, right?" She sighed as they rolled to a stop at a set of barricades. There 4-5 police cruisers from the town they had diven through to get here.

definitely"I know, and I might need your skills yet, dear. For now, play nice and roll down the window for the officers." The old man said as he pulled out one of his many badges to show, as Addie did what he had instructed, squinting when the flashlight beam swept the car's interior. In the distance, she could see the ghost of small fires being put out here and there. This was definetly odd but not supernaturally so. At least not that she could see.

"Officer, my partner and I are with the FBI. We are here to investigate the potential cause of this tragedy. We have reason to believe it is in association with a known terrorist organization. Who is the highest-ranked officer here?"

Clay had seen a lot of things in his time with the armed forces. Horrors that would be later typed, submitted, and then redacted with dark black markers. Never to see the light of day again. It was all a part of the job and something he thought he would get used to. He didn't expect to see the familiar signs of magic and spellwork in the building that they had just inflated. It smelled of something sweet and old mixed with iron. It made the man's stomach turn as he began to administer some quick first aid to the pows they had found languishing in a back room. The site had been partially abandoned but the nightmarish projects that had been done here still remained.

"Lieutenant Swanson do a lap with Private Benson and take as many pictures as possible. By the time you two are done, I'll be done triaging these people." Clay said as his hands worked to clean and bandage a nasty wound on the semiconscious man as he watched to ensure the right amount of sedative was given to the other. "We'll need the both of you to get the big guy out safely.

Addie's finger stood looking over Dorian's shoulder as he used his clearance to check Lucas's file. After almost a week and no call on her burner phone or a letter, she had started to get a little worry. And while it was here that she tried to keep their relationship as non-committal as possible it didn't mean that she wasn't worried about him. The words that began to fill the screen made her blood run cold. He had been missing along with his younger brother for weeks with no contact. The last entry into the file was a hastily updated order for retrieval with a side note for potential institutionalization if the asset could not be recovered whole.

"I want you to start some paperwork for me. Just a quick power of attorney request will be in my file marked 'JIC'." Addie said as she grabbed her bag off the back of the chair and started towards the door.

"This will cost you but I'll get the file notarized and sent over to you as soon as it's done. For a man who you aren't dating, you're sure worried about him."

She flicked him the bird as she pulled up his home address on her phone fully intending on getting a few legal balls moving before they could bury the two men.

The scream sounded truly agonizing. Addie could feel its vibration in her teeth as a dull ache settled in her bones. The taste of iron and flesh set heavy on her tongue. The all too familiar smell of smoke on the wind. This was so far removed from the little town's normal night of dreaming minds and restless bodies. That otherworldy sense of awareness that never let her have a moment notified her she was not alone. Dark eyes shifted back into focus and settled on a man smoking on the front porch of the house. Too immersed in deciphering his nightmares to notice her.

Addie could be gone without a sound. Halfway up the road before he lifted his head. But...his dreams spoke of suffering she never thought possible outside of battlefields and torture chambers. And for the first time in a long time, she needed to know why. She shifted her feet making noise as she turned to look as if she had been walking. Plastering a friendly look on her face as she approached.

"Scuse me, sugar. I don't mean to be nosey but are you ok? I heard screamin and got worried. Should I get some help?"

Her heart dropped in her chest as her mind comprehended exactly what he was saying. Addie couldn't understand how a mother could treat their child like that. The more and more she heard about his childhood the more she hated the woman. Taking his hand in her's she gave it a gentle squeeze never taking her eyes from him.

"I'm sorry, you didn't deserve that honey. You are perfect just the way you are and a child should never have to deal with things like that." Addi said voice firm as if she could will away that pain and trauma away from him. Parents were supposed to care for and uplift their children not add to their burdens. Or create them either.

"Just tell me when you're feeling low next time. You don't have to hide your hurt from me. I'm not going to judge you for the things that you can't change. If you'll let me we can work through this together and only when you are ready, sweetheart."

Addie pointed to a Hunter-sized spot at the end of the bed. She watched as the dog settled down in the midst of his family, content to nap as they enjoyed their movie night. A quarter of the way through the movie the pizza arrived. By the halfway point Val was sleeping with a half-knawed pizza crust gripped in her hand. Their little girl couldn't hang to save her life. It was since this was more to comfort the little girl's daddy than anything else. And he seemed to love watching her and their pup snore away in unison.

"What a bunch of party poopers." She chuckled lightly to herself as she paused the movie and turned to Lucas. Reaching out she gently took the crust from Val and got out one of their supply of wipes to clean her before nodding her head toward the door. "Now go on and make one of those core memories the parenting books are always talking about. I'll clean up while you work your girl dad magic."

It would probably be seen as a bit petty but Addie was greatly enjoying this particular punishment. Lucas when being a sub was normally very obedient and quick to do as told so it had shocked her when he broke a rule. So much in fact that she had decided to ask him if he was sure something that he wanted to do. The man had looked her in the face with the most defiant expression she had ever seen and he did.

So she had left off on their session for that day and left him with a multiday ban on coming. Addie had spent the better part of those days watching him unravel a little more with each interaction. The feather in her cap had been avoiding any purposeful or accidental touching. She wouldn't let him get close enough to convince her to release him from his punishment. But he had been on his p's and q's the only evidence it was starting to weigh on him was his lack of patience. Addie knew it had run his course when the man could no longer read which was his favorite hobby.

Stepping out of her office when she didn't hear the familiar flipping of pages she walked around the house until she finally found in him their room. Leaning on the door frame she watched him as she tried to meditate. Oh, he was a very good boy. Addie bite her tongue before the words could leave her lips. Instead silently entered the room and settled herself on the couch to watch him.

"Lucas." She said after a moment of watching him. "Come here please babe. Let me have a look at you. I think you've learned your lesson now."
