The Scarecrow watched the fascinating figure move closer to him as a tune he was not familiar with was playing. He tilted his head and watched for a moment. Not sure what was expected of him. A smile playing on his stitched lips.

He might not be able to feel exhaustion, but he did have emotions like most living beings and right now, he felt fear. Worry. Shame. The Scarecrow didn't know how long he had been locked up, but as he stumbled through the woods over the broken up yellow brick road - it wasn't a hard guess that it's been a long time.

It was hard not to feel guilt for the current state of Oz and while they had been blindsided, it didn't make it any easier to accept. He didn't know where he could get any help either. He had hoped that the munckinland was safe, but there were only ruins there as well. Even Dorothy's old house was still there, but swallowed up by trees and shrubs.

After walking for days on end he simply found himself a tree to huddle under. Out of ideas of what to do now.

It was an odd thing, not to mention a slightly frustrating thing, to be a protective soul, but having little to nothing to offer in protection. "Well then, don't be afraid to use me as a shield," he teased her.

The slender, awkward figure moved quietly around the small building. Now, he didn't know much of anything with being only a few days old, but something just didn't feel right here. Why was everything abandoned? Why did it look like whoever had lived here had left in a rush?

With a gloved hand, the scarecrow tried to very carefully push on the door to no avail. Not knowing how a door worked he simply continued on inspecting the outside.

He tugged his hat as far down his burlap head as he could when the stranger directed a question at him, of all people. He supposed it didn't do much of a difference in hiding his features, but an effort was made nonetheless.

Though the young soul was intrigued by the odd question and couldn't help himself, "Swankified?" he quipped, looking around confused before looking at the gentleman again, "What is swankified?"

The Scarecrow stood there for a long moment uncertain what to do when the young human girl laid down to rest in the grass. Just standing there like fool just wouldn't do so he moved over to join her. While he intended to be a little more quiet, true to himself he ended up flopping down with a soft 'ompf.'

How elegant could a bag of hay be anyhow? "Do you see something?" he wondered, tilting his head back to look up as well.
