Just a few hours before #KluenCheewit's finale and I'm sure many of us have contradicting emotions. For though I'm not quite ready to say goodbye, I need this last episode to air STAT so I can get to the rewatch! Hearts were broken all over the place last week and one thing I keep coming back to with Sathit and Jeerawat is that they never seem to truly hear one another. They listen but don't understand what the other is saying (or isn't). I absolutely adored Jee in this scene but that doesn't mean I wasn't right there with Thit as well. I find it so very interesting that although this is right after his "altercation" with Chaiyan, his tone and demeanor with Jee is straightforward but gentle. To me, it's a testament to the fact that for quite some time now, Thit has been smack dab in the present with her, while it's Jee who is still stuck in the past. And while I don't blame her, I sympathize with this man that is basically watching the woman he loves in pain break up with him and walk out of his life, yet feels he has no right to stop her. Not because he's angry but because he loves her. His reaction is painful but he can't give her what she wants (not yet anyway) because he's not ready to let go and everything she's saying spells goodbye. Up until this point, I've appreciated that Sathit hasn't spoken of his feelings for Jee with anyone, because I'd rather he say it to her or no one at all, but it's equally frustrating that "anyone" also includes her. The way he's dealt with Jee has been very reactionary and leaned more toward deliberate, intimate action over overt, romantic speech and I'm sure for him, in their situation, he has found it hard to do much more than that but in this last episode I'm betting he's going to be putting his barrister training into some substantial personal use. 😏 I am so, so ready!!! As I try to grasp the reality of a Monday without #KluenCheewit I couldn't help but think about one of the best things about the finale episode (and there were quite a few). For Sathit said everything that needed to be said and all the things I wanted to hear. And one of those main points was that what happened between he and Jee occurred because of real (positive) feelings. What I appreciate is that Show gave us that piece, when many would gloss over it and that it wasn't some fanciful drama way of strumming up romance, justifying their actions, validating Jee's pregnancy or even their future together. But rather a character voicing what the audience already knew; a truth that was acknowledged and accepted. The original story was dark, the kind of dark that is hard to reconcile in many ways but in this remake, I never felt that. All I ever saw from these two people was hurt, loss and loads of pain and loneliness. Therefore, when the controversial episode approached, I felt it would be handled differently and I was ecstatic it was. The two people standing in that moment were aware of what could happen and went for it any way (was one of my favorite dialogue sequences actually). And their feelings and reasons, perhaps not as clear to them as us, were very different from what they wanted them to be. It takes me back to what I said before about Jee rectifying the past (in love), while Thit is in the present reacting (from disappointment). Which as always hurt themselves and each other... Sigh. Today we celebrate women and while I can't say I've met many wonderful female characters this year, I have met a couple and #KluenCheewit's Jeerawat is one. Though very flawed, Jee is a woman it's hard not to root for. She's fierce and fragile, with tons of insecurities and walls but a heart bigger than anyone you know and enough tears to fill an ocean. Therefore, in this moment with Sathit, I commend her. For she says everything any woman in her situation should say to the man that changed her life. The man that made her love. The man she fears and desires the most. Listening to her, your heart breaks, along with them both, as she lays herself bare one last time. Jee is a woman that loves. Loves with all she has, all she does and it's powerful and painful to behold. Keeping my eyes dry during this scene (and this post) was a difficult feat because while I would have loved for her to also say what Thit wants to hear (and a couple things he needs know), however, I know she can't because of that love. It's frustrating but she's strong and beautiful as she shares what's on her heart in the most sincere and vulnerable way she's ever been. There was no bravado, no shield, just love and a little resolve. All she wants is for him let go, to live well, to be happy.
