I think it’s very funny that Oda went out of his way to have Cindry popping out of a well with a spotlight focused on it to justify drawing her kind of like Frankenstein’s monster in the old black and white movies
I do like that it's Nami who steps up amidst the scardy cat trio. She's always felt like the natural third in command in the crew after Luffy and Zoro
Luffy, please don't try to eat the obviously rotting dog monster
Exploring the idea of free will is one of the big secondary themes with the various zombies of Thriller Bark, and during the big final battle Cindry will exercise the briefest moment of autonomy enabling her to be destroyed.
But it isn't really her only moment of free will, isn't it? Hogback has turned the object of his desires into his undead slave, but he can't make her like him. She has to obey, but he can't make her use plates when serving dessert.
Here we have the set up for the Big Idea of Thriller Bark. If Oda has one hard and fast rule for the series, it’s that you can’t return to the past. It’s impossible to go back to the way things were, but you do have the choice in how you chose to move ahead. It’s one of the reasons Oda has been so vocal in interviews about how he doesn’t like bringing characters back to life.
I feel that calling a skeleton skinny is a bit self evident, but I guess technically he isn't wrong
