@polyfacetious from literally nothing because I wanna write this and it fits none of my memes
Chris hears the taut whisper of the bow string from the back of the shop before she ever sees the tip of the arrow. Jack’s store was filled to the brim with antiques, on the verge of overflowing.
Trinkets of a bygone age, gold and silver on the shelves right next to fabrications and knock offs. Sparrow’s Antiques was a treasure trove of history from all across the world, and a well beloved institute in the city.
What few people knew what just who, and what the owner was. (Amazons and Atlanteans shared few things in common. But their respect of the Old Sparrow was one thing they could agree on.)
“Hi, Jon.” Chris isnt’ worried about the arrow. She could stop it with her gauntlets if he really wanted to take a shot at her. But Jonathan wasn’t the type. He was just...protective.
“Chris.” The arrow lowers and slips from where it’s nocked. Jonathan brushes the hood away from his face, stepping between two rows of old books to allow himself to be seen. “Long time no see.”
She doesn’t mention that’s because Jon has decided he doesn’t need the League. That walking away was walking away from family. She’s here for good reasons today, there was no reason to stir things up. “It’s been too long.” But she isn’t the type to play at small talk. “Is Jack here?”
Jon’s shoulders are bowstring tight. He’ll never forgive the League for Jack getting captured. Chris won’t ever forgive herself. But now isn’t the time. “I’m surprised you didn’t send your speed freak boyfriend.”
It’s about as blatant a low blow as you could get. Chris doesn’t bother to hide her sigh. “He’s not my boyfriend. I don’t date team mates.” It’s a mistake, and for someone as quick with reflexes as she is, Chris can only flinch once the words are out.
“It didn’t stop you from sleeping with Jack.”
It should have been anyone but her here. But at the same time, she wasn’t going to let anyone else bear the Arrow’s ire. This was her fault.
“I made that mistake once. I won’t make it again.”

CHARACTER
Name: Liu Qi’nfan
Pirate Human Alias: Jonathan Ward
Age: ??? (Atlantean) / 33 (physically; has been on the surface since 1695 though)
Ranking/Title: Boatswain/Bosun
Ship/Crew: TBA
Specialities: NOT reading sailing charts because he doesn’t trust humans, fighting (hand-to-hand), environmental awareness (reading the stars, having a faint ethereal connection to Atlantis so he always knows which direction it’s in), stomaching his alcohol since Atlanteans have eaten worse, mechanical adaptability so if it’s broken, he’ll figure out how to fix it... or secretly break it more
Languages: TBA
Species: Atlantean
How long they’ve been a pirate: About six months
Why they’re a pirate: His parents sent him and his older brother up to the surface world over three decades ago in order to spy on the humans and make sure they weren’t getting too close to discovering Atlantis. They pretended to be orphans, “Jonathan” and “Raymond”, and his brother enlisted at the beginning of the War of Spanish Succession in 1701 -- and died, leaving Jonathan Ward alone. He debated returning to Atlantis but his parents had given him and his brother a task, and he was determined to continue. Raymond’s death made things harder to hide Atlantean existence from the humans; he’d been carrying Atlantean technology on his person. Jonathan couldn’t get the technology back, but there was something he could do: keep pretending to be human, working from the inside to make sure humans didn’t go looking for more of Atlantean technology or, worse, the city itself. It took a long time, but after long years of blending in with humans and learning their culture and ways of living, Jonathan was able to fill an empty spot as a navigator and return to the sea - but as a pirate instead of just an Atlantean.

TM: Landon
He is my ride or die, okay? We can pretty much talk about anything, okay... almost anything. And have I thought about kissing him? Maybe. But I know he’s in a relationship and I know he loves Courtney. What else? Uh, his power sucks because ICE! just kidding, he’s pretty cool.
TM: Brian
I honestly wouldn’t mind helping him with his stress, you know what I mean? If he didn’t threaten my life every time I glance at his toys, I think things would be pretty different. Also the fact that he probably likes to probe people, who knows what other weird kinks he has.
TM: Jonathan
You know that kind of people you just want to shut up and put a brown bag over his head? That’s Jonathan. He’s alright looking until he opens his mouth, ugh.
