Even after her identity is revealed, Chaaya remains withdrawn; not for her pride and pretension. She lingers, mother of deception and desperation, but also of relief and respite. She loves living things enough to follow each and every one under the light of the sun, and she whispers reminders, when their hearts sink, that even the most terrible of mistakes might be forgiven.

Snow Grave

Down the caverns you traversed, following a smear that you were to believe was Chaaya’s blood. You close in on the source, and hear someone within.

“Don’t make me do this!”

It was not a voice you recognized. 

A gunshot rang out, barely missing its target. In the entryway..

...was a person. Holding an odd yet unique weapon in their hands. Their chest rises and falls, blood pumping in their ringing ears. 

“Wait.”

They lower the gun. 

“Oh fuck…You’re like me.” 

There’s a sort of relief in their voice, their expression softened for a moment, before casting a look of sympathy. 

“I um...Your friend…It’s not good.” 

They hurriedly turn back, retreating deeper into the caverns and beckoning you to follow. Even with this revelation, there was a more pressing matter.  It didn’t take long, the patterns of blood growing more and more until it all stopped. The cold, hard truth was staring you in the face.
