"Normal Life Plus" starts with Denji spotting that Chainsaw Man curry buns are discounted at half-off (49 yen is hella cheap) and something about this gives him pause. I can't help but think that it resonates with him--he feels that his treasured identity is cheapened, diluted. Shortly afterwards, we see that he still stocked up on the aforementioned buns. Another sacrifice. It would be foolish not to take advantage of that price when he's got mouths to feed, and food is food.
Next came the heart-squeezing reveal that Denji had in fact kept an old Chainsaw Man poster for himself, one unlike the current posters that don't even feature his likeness. His eyes are trained on it as he, once again, ponders the merits of a normal life. It seems like he's iterating on the question. Now he's wondering about the future, as if to say "how much longer must I endure this before it gets better?". Denji is suffering.
Nayuta is attentive as always, even while half-asleep. In what might be one of the most tender and affectionate moments this entire series has given us, we're shown again that it isn't simply Denji taking care of her. They're taking care of each other. When she raises her arms as if inviting an embrace and offers to stay with him forever, he folds instantly. It speaks directly to some of the needs he's driven by (to be loved, needed, not alone).
So what's a "normal life plus"? Has something been appended to the "normal" that we already know Denji is not enjoying? Normal life plus Nayuta? Is this an enhancement or a consolation?
