I just had a mango bubble tea and I think the power of that can help delay the mental breakdown for at least another 30 minutes!

I just had a mango bubble tea and I think the power of that can help delay the mental breakdown for at least another 30 minutes!
I've been off tumblr lately and just opened the app after coming home and saw a white mutual had posted an Oscar Isaac character crossover fic with a film made by white people that culturally appropriates and profits off of Māori! My indigenous peoples! And there were some people commenting and reblogging that this was something they'd really wanted? I recognised a couple too, one was a moot.
This film actually had indigenous calls of a boycott (which I did) from different indigenous and Pasifika peoples, not just Māori.
I didn't read the fic but with how it's labeled it's an "indigenous reader" too! I'm not going to get into if x ethnicity can write characters or reader of y and z ethnicities but this person is not an indigenous writer and they clearly haven't taken the time or care for indigenous peoples, especially mine, if they wrote and posted this fic in the first place.
I know there's a lot of racism in all fandom spaces and I know people don't care about indigenous peoples. I know people especially don't care about Māori, except for when they want to mispronounce it and say the haka is the most beautiful thing they've ever seen or that it's so demonic.
But this is ignorance and it's not good enough.
I'm not going to name the OP, I haven't interacted with the fic or reached out to them because even when you're polite they often self-vicitimise when having to deal with their racism. I also don't know that moot well. I just needed to get this 2am vent and might delete it when I wake up.
I know someone might want to whip out the "writers can write what they want!" Card, which is a card worth pulling out at times but I don't think people can hide behind that when they're writing stuff that is racist which there is a lot of.
got an acceptance email from a lit mag about a piece that i genuinely do not remember submitting, i had to go back to the original email and read the piece there to know what had been accepted. actually a pretty good piece lol, shout out to my 2am brain!
home now from cinema and friends, had my night meds and going to revenge procrastinate other things by trying to respond to some messages on here and also read some of the works I've been tagged in by my very amazing moots, they're so talented!
