And that’s ignoring the fact that he literally killed his brother to keep the fact that he took Saltkit away a secret. Like, I can see the side eyeing that’s done towards Bonestar. But Chalknose made it 1000x worse imo.

yeah Chalknose wasn’t even thinking about bonesight at the time, he was just like “she is sick and if she gets power it will become worse for everyone, i have to get at Least One of my Kids out” and didn’t really think a single step further.

and then honestly? it didn’t even really get worse for everyone! bonestar has been a neutral and hands off leader!!! things are bad but not because of her!

its so funny to me how everyone thinks chalknose is dead in modern time even though he appeared in wisplight’s chapter several times. he just has no dialogue until now because he’s estranged

Did the thought of just killing Bone ever occur to Chalk? Like, she was right there sleeping, and it was clear by that point that this was going to spiral into violence with no way to stop it.

no, the thought never occurred. that’s the mother of his children! and at heart he’s a coward. and he himself is suffering the grief of losing a child. he was hoping she would blame tonguestar (or less hoping- he knew she would blane him regardless of evidence) and kill him and it would be over. he wasn’t expecting lumplog to rally the rest of the clan.

likewise, he didn’t plan on killing lumplog, it was a rash and spur of the moment decision to keep them silent. talking to them about it didn’t occur either; they figured out his secret because they know his tells and mannerisms, and he did what he felt was the only option to keep them quiet.
