A Wicked Sense of Humor - Memes. Memes. Memes. Anyone who has the unfortunate side effect of being in Belial’s phone--be prepared to be bombarded with idiotic memes and videos. Constantly. If there’s one thing Belial enjoys the most about the increase in technology and the invention of the internet is his ability to share his particular brand of humor with everyone.

Covet Shiny Things - Born from the thousands of years he spent amongst the royalty of the Chinese Empire (and wherever his footsteps chose to take him) he’s always had a taste for the finer things. Living up to his own personal embodiment of a hoarding dragon, he takes, and he takes, and he takes of jewelry, and fine fabrics, and books, and art, and tucks them away throughout the world. In whatever form he’s chosen to take on, he always has a knack for enjoying the finer things, and even if he looks like a grungy hipster, he’s still wearing Prada.

Obsession With Technology - Belial is never one to be ‘behind the times’. He’s always seen technology as they motivating factor of the future. Had helped the Chinese become a super power, simply by being in their presence for so many millennia. He always has his fingers in the up-and-coming, and there is very little that he let’s slip him by. Being able to snapchat his fellow demons (the older and more crotchety the better) with images of him with dog ears makes it all the more enjoyable.

Challenge 023: The Iceberg Test

Cassiel may not experience romantic attraction in the traditional way, but the furthest they’ve ever gone for someone involved a coup and a new emperor. Constantine was the start of it all: back when they were wilder and prone to playful risk-taking, when Adon’s commands were guidelines and he had not yet tried to rein them in. It’s been so long now that they can’t fully explain why Constantine meant what he did to them. Adon was furious, but what was done was done. They had Uther, and Uther had Arthur, and legend was born.

They’re a bad painter. Only Shibah is kind enough to pretend otherwise.

They have a sense of humor–it’s just very dry, very literal, and very deliberate. Cassiel doesn’t laugh easily. They’re drained, after decades of time spent serving increasingly desperate orders, after months spent fighting with no end in sight and no direction, and humor doesn’t come easily to them anymore. Very few have seen how clever Cassiel’s jokes can be: their sly smiles and gentle ribbing.

Zack has a fantastic singing voice. He’s never done anything with it -- he was in choir back in middle school, but that’s it. Even still, he has a rich, lyric baritone that he’s mostly unaware of. He’ll sing along to the radio absently but doesn’t make much more of his ability.

Middle school and even most of high school for Zack meant one thing: D&D. He had Beast Master Ranger that he put painstaking work into. If you happen to mention D&D near him, he will not shut up about Aerick Wolfswift and his long self-journey from hating beasts to forging deep kinship with all types.

He hates Family Guy. Don’t reference it. Don’t put it on if he’s in the room. Don’t talk about how it’s actually really funny. Don’t.

Welcome to Challenge #023!

Challenges are pretty straight-forward. You do the Challenge, you get a point. You don’t do it, you don’t get a point. There’s no grading, this is purely participation based. There are 2 Challenges per month. When you get a point, the point is tallied on the Point page, located at /points.

This Challenge is “The Iceberg Test.” This is not required, but you will find our next event much easier and more fulfilling if you happen to do this by then! Some of you are probably familiar with the iceberg metaphor—that for what you know of a thing ‘above,’ there is infinitely more ‘below.’ We want you to turn your eyes to your muse and come up with three things (they can be bullet point facts!) that those muses who know them would know. These facts can be anything! It might be food preferences, personality nuances, nervous habits, et cetera. (For example, anyone who really knows me, knows I love Earl Grey tea.) We’re looking forward to what you come up with.

challenge 023.iceberg test

Kezia is great at doing make-up -- she just...doesn’t do it. Between surfing and working out, she doesn’t seem much point in getting all done up when it’s only going to get wrecked. It has to be a really big occasion for her to put in the time and effort. But when she does, most people are usually shocked, having never seen her with a full face of make-up.

Kezia’s tag is a minimalist mermaid. There are a few incarnations of it in hidden pockets at her high school. Since then, she’s tagged it all over the city in her street-art and has worked up a few pieces that are more elaborate, detailed, colored incarnations.

Kezia is really bad with music. So bad. She listens to the same seven albums or so on her iPhone and that’s about it. If it isn’t one of those, or something from that LiteFM station that the shop plays, she’s probably never heard of it. She barely knows the names of the most popular artists, she definitely doesn’t know any of their songs or how they go.
