I think it would be safe to say that Casey and I thought this would be a lot easier than it actually was! Working together consistently required a lot more communication, patience, and compromise than just pasting together two different sections that we worked on separately.
We would each work on the piece for 30 minutes, which was a perfect limit so neither of us could "take over" stylistically, but also made compromising a lot more complicated! It was actually quite funny, because in our last bit of work during Skype, we revealed that we'd both been insecure about our aesthetic coming through. I suppose that means we had actually done a good job with our collaboration!
In the end, I truly believe we brought out the best in each other, because this piece is really exciting! Casey pushed me in ways I hadn't been pushed in a long time, and this art is a true union of our two illustration voices. Thanks for willing to be pushed, and pushing me back, Casey. This was a great experiment!
Also- just a side note- this process GIF is super cool!
