Challenge 82: Nostalgia: Enamel Pins Nostalgia reminds me of Girl Scouts when I was younger. I always enjoyed the concept of the enamel pins that represented all sorts of things – I decided to run with ‘Fort-Making’ because camping was always one of my favorite parts. Any excuse to set up a super cozy corner to curl up in. -Kirsten

I struggled a bit with a concept here, but an idea struck while browsing a nostalgia themed Reddit. This is based on my more recent adventures into VR, and having a View Master in my childhood probably had something to do with it.

Challenge 82: Nostalgia: Eggs

My Grandpa used to always make us eggs in the morning whenever my family was visiting. I would usually sleep in the den with my sister and would often be woken up by the stirring in the kitchen (which was adjacent to the den.) I remember being annoyed as a kid being awoken earlier than needed, but loved having breakfast with all of my family :)

Challenge 82: Nostalgia: Butthead (Asshole)

Growing up, my family loved playing card games, often while traveling together. There was one game in particular known throughout my childhood as Butthead (commonly known as Asshole). In this game, there is a ranking order depending on who wins each round: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Butthead (the loser). The “Butthead” had to wear this really dumb looking joker hat while on the bottom of the totem pole... and since we were usually playing in a public place, it was pretty rough. You really didn’t want to be the butthead.

Challenge 82: Nostalgia: Moon Festival BBQ

September 15 will be the Moon Festival this year.  Moon Festival is one of the biggest holiday in Taiwan, and on the day, families will gather and do Taiwanese style BBQ together while enjoying the view of the full moon.   Every year this time (also Chinese new year), looking at my friends’ photos makes me miss home a lot.

For this challenge, I made a few vignettes depicting myself from back in the day. I like to think that curious little kid is still tucked away in my brain, building stuff with legos or coloring or maybe setting the microwave on fire.
