Thursday, May 31st, 6-9pm, @beautyforfreedom presents the Illuminate Ghana Book Launch and Reading at @libreriagh. Illuminate Ghana is a photo book and a community portrait celebrating the beauty and creativity of the students of @challengingheights Last June 2017, a team of six international Beauty for Freedom artists travelled to Winneba, Ghana, West Africa to work with over 300 students from the Challenging Heights Friends International Academy to activate healing through the arts, using the Beauty for Freedom art and photography workshop series as a tool to empower and uplift the youth of CH. The pure beauty and humanity of the people of the region in Central Ghana where the BFF Photography Workshops took place resonated in the photos captured by these incredible youth. What a joy to see how our young @beautyforfreedom photography students from @challengingheights are continuing to practice their photography!!! We #ADORE you Challenging Heights and we are so proud of your youth! . . #Repost @challengingheights ・・・ Kojo* is 14 years old and he spent 1 year working on the Lake before he was rescued and brought to the Challenging Heights Hovde House. He was reintegrated earlier this year, and said this in his exit interview: "I used to be sad often, but now I don’t. I am happy most of the time. Our @beautyforfreedom #ProjectGhana initiative with the #ahhhhhhhmazing youth of @challengingheights has some really exciting developments! Our #artfam and brilliant print-maker/artist @ufapstudio has finalized the scans of the youth's work! All of the originals will be traveling home to Ghana this week and back into the hands of the youth who painted them....AND THEN we start working on our #ProjectGhana Capsule collection and children's exhibit for the spring and more all to benefit the youth in Ghana and our Global BFF arts therapy programming for survivors of human trafficking! Wow! 2018 is gonna be incredible!!! . . .
