TOKYO, JAPAN: A favourite from the #champ_travel archives • Hidden in the backstreets between Harajuku and Omotesando lies #KoffeeMameya, the reincarnation of owner Eichii Kunimoto and its predecessor Omotesando Koffee. ☕️👁 Found in the same location, the new box-like design champions the contemporary contrast of concrete and wood, again helmed by design studio 14SD (@yosuke_hayashi). Here, there is a new approach to bean selection; offering coffee beans from around the world and presenting each roast from light to dark (pictured, the shades of each bag determine the roast). A new membership program offers records of taste preferences, with free public workshops after 6pm on weekdays. TOKYO: The Yayoi Kusama Museum opens! An entire museum dedicated to the extraordinary Japanese artist and her key message of world peace and love. Designed by Japanese architecture firm Kume Sekkei, the museum was created by Kusama herself, and is led by the museum Director Akira Tatehata and the Yayoi Kusama Foundation. The museum opens with it’s inaugural exhibition “Creation is a Solitary Pursuit, Love is What Brings You Closer to Art” featuring her most recent works and a newly unveiled mirror room “PUMPKINS SCREAMING ABOUT LOVE BEYOND INFINITY”, a universe filled with pumpkins. TOKYO: #SukibayashiSabo is a one of a kind contemporary and [very yet excellent] casual dining area designed by Studio Sawara, with a fascinating dining menu created by acclaimed Tokyo chef #YoshihisaAkiyama of #GeeseSix. Located on the 6th Floor Of Ginza’s Tokyu Plaza Department Store in the Kiriko Public Lounge area, it really is not to be underestimated. Take a pit stop with a coffee by Obscura Coffee Roasters, green tea by Ocharaka tea store, or their seasonal cocktail list. The menu is snack-sized, with the must-try 'New Form Of Beef Bowl' with red wine rice, radish sprouts and egg - a new take on the classic Japanese beef bowl. Here, a perfect example of umami.
