Alex hadn’t planned to stay on the island for as long as he had. He came to town with the intentions of visiting his friend for a few months and then leaving not only the island but the entire supernatural world behind. In his mind, it had caused him more pain than anything. He made a point not to spend any time in the shifter woods either, always having that feeling that he didn’t belong anywhere. But now he was creating a home on the island with Charlie, and it was set in a neighborhood just a little way outside of the shifter woods, so he figured he would allow himself to explore it a little. It reminded him of his childhood when he and Charlie would play in the woods, climbing trees and hanging out in the treehouse Charlie’s father and brother built for them. The area seemed perfect for them to live in.
Maybe he was still a bit paranoid from the attack or maybe he felt so out of place that he worried someone would call him out on it, but he stopped in his tracks as he heard someone coming up behind him, turning to face them. “I was just about to turn back and leave.” He said, almost like he was trying to beat them to telling him he shouldn’t be there.
