Monsoon is the best time for travelling in India. For a traveler like me, I find this time of the year is most romantic and soothing for the soul also as nature and pleasant weather along with it adds an unbeatable charm. Yes, I’m talking about Telangana the youngest state in India, where travel is highly rewarding as it boasts many unexplored gems in its tablelands.
Happiness is a car, good friends and a pleasant road..
For many hyderabadies, the least popular getaway is Mahbubnagar. It is around 90kms and it can be reached in less than 2 hours on a smooth road and as we live in Mahbubnagar town we decided to look around and explore the interiors of this district.
Roadtripin with your best buddies is never boring..
So we planned a quick weekend getaway to Chandraghad fort. Driving through the countryside, dotted with paddy fields and hillocks and after about two hours on the road, we reached our first stop Jurala dam. We spent some time there by witnessing the waters followed by lunch. Then we started towards the Chandraghad fort which is about 8kms from Juraladam

yayie!!
This fort was built during Peshwas and belongs to Chandrasena Jilledar. This is a strong, impenetrable fort constructed to store the grains and taxes collected from people in those times.
As you can see an impenetrable wall..
Looks magnificent isn’t it?
View of the fort from the bottom of the hill..
Chandraghad fort is one of the best places I’ve been so far in Telangana. It is a Hidden jewel in the state. It has a fantabulous view from the top. It is a picturesque hill fort and is located on the banks of River Krishna at Chandraghad Village, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana. There are no sign boards for this place. One has to take help of Google maps or Locals in order to reach this place. There’s no public transport facility to this place. Traveling by an own vehicle is preferred. If you are traveling by car, there’s a narrow way which leads to the hilltop or else it takes 20 to 30 minutes of walk to reach the hilltop from the nearest road point.
It was a pleasant day!!

The fort sits on the top of a hill and there’s a magnificent view in all directions. This place offers the remains of the protective walls, gateways and several ruined buildings. The Sri Ramalingeshwara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located inside the fort.
It is a pleasant place to wander.

Sunset time!!

Old monk_Lord of the drinks? Agree?
After witnessing the brilliantly red and orange sunset from here. We did almost felt the same when we viewed the gorgeous sunset in Chapora fort , Goa. Hence, for us this fort is ‘Chapora Fort of Telangana’.
