Behind The Scenes: Chanel Fall Winter 2015
The French have a way to get into our heads. Slipping in a restrained French-ness whenever we think of romance. Luxurious but not opulent, Fall Winter 2015 Chanel leads you to the brand’s roots and prompts you to examine what makes the French tick… like those Parisian lass. No, Lagerfeld has not lost his marbles and sticked with something safe. For collections, Karl has been travelling to places of grandeur - Dubai, Seoul and Dallas, so much so that you could well be tricked into thinking he has forsaken the house’s legacy. This is the homecoming of which he kicks back and soak in the atypical Parisian style with a capital P. From behind the scenes, we find the crazily detailed profile of which each look is composed, where poses are kitsch and timeless. Those nuances may well be lost on the unaware but the actual aesthetic is an intricate composite of necklaces, effortless makeup and posture, posture, posture. They remind me of the dignified matron, overwhelming with pride. Then again, the same can be said of so many collections before, all insanely different, yet taking on the Chanel narrative. Perhaps that’s what impresses us - the same difference isn’t such a bad idea after all.
