At the beginning (Chambers x Konevi)

A/N: I wasn’t going to write anything today. And then I saw that today’s prompt from @choicesmaychallenge is Beginnings. And then I started to listen to that song from Anastasia. And then I thought “Chanevi!” And then I wrote this little drabble.

"It’s quite a nice ending to our story, isn’t it?” Bartholomew whispered, gently brushing his fingers over the barrister’s hand.They stood a little behind the crowd, away from the gentry focused on the other newlywed couple. And they were so happy. Yusuf glanced at the man beside him. His husband. Yes, that sounded so right. He couldn’t help but smile at the warm feeling in his chest. The first time he felt it was at that memorable dinner at Sinclaire’s townhouse. Duke, no, Mister Richards, was a horrible man, there’s no doubt about that. Still, the absolute lack of manners of that pig indirectly led to their meeting, to the love of his life sitting next to him at that table. It was the beginning of their story, the memory that Konevi would treasure forever. Even though he couldn’t have imagined how many more memories were still to come. And then there were more dinners. Some at the grand parties and some, their favourite ones, with just the two of them. Secret dinners and visits and moments that were only theirs, when the outside world didn’t exist and no one could take away their happiness. And there were stolen kisses and whispers and brushes against the skin when the world did exist but they knew how to escape its eyes, even if only for just a few seconds. And there were hard times. And the fear of losing each other. And sleepless nights when the situation felt hopeless. But in the end, they’ve always found a way to stay together. And there was falling in love. Slowly and more with each passing day. Because every day meant more of those precious moments, more learning about each other, more time that they didn’t want to waste. And there was their wedding. Their happy ending that still didn’t feel real. Maybe because it wasn’t. Because there he was, standing next to his husband on the most beautiful day of his life, and it didn’t seem like an ending. After all the road ahead, while still unknown, was full of so much more. More precious moments. More memories. More time. And he couldn’t wait to go down that road. With his Bart. Together. So he just smiled the man beside him and whispered back, so softly only Chambers could hear him. “My love, this is just the beginning.”

This may have been answered already but if you didn’t pay to keep Mr. Konevi in Book One, is he still part of the OTP Chanevi in Book Two (and did they ever explain how he stuck around).
