Mirror the change
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Gandhi’s quote reveals a profound truth that how we see the world is what is seen inside of us. It is important to dig deep and lead by example, instead of getting caught up in other people’s issues, because we still have our own to deal with.
It is us who need to take control, Gandhi’s quote certainly makes you think. But the reality is, that where we have our own issues, we may imply it is others who need to change. The notion of ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ does powerful things when you choose to adopt and accept it.
As we put the work in we grow and mature. The good experiences shape us and our lives positively. The bad experiences can if we understand and work through those, give us strength of character. Life isn’t about getting others to change, it’s about being the change you want to see happen and implementing those changes.
When it comes to family, they may always have their opinions of you and that may never change. But no matter what your values are, through growth the person you once were can change over time, but other’s perceptions of you may still stay the same. That doesn’t matter because the universe knows you.
Where we change, and go through spiritual and emotional growth, for others time may stand still. Where they are emotionally, is how they may continue to see and judge you. Will that change? It can, but they have to want to change.
But in today’s world, it is important to mirror the change so that you can keep pace with what is happening in the world and attitudes need to change. That statement has never been truer, than it is today in Brexit and Covid-19.
