I don’t really have much of a platform on here, but:
The Mississippi state flag needs to change. It still contains the Confederate flag and has since 1894 and that is unacceptable.
There have been legislative discussions in the past few days, but no changes have been made just yet. Legislators claim that they do not have enough votes to change the flag. We need to show them just how many of us, not just in Mississippi but across the country, are demanding this flag to be changed, not asking!
It is far, FAR past time for this flag to be changed. If you support black people, please support those who live in the South. POC here are fighting racism, too. All the black people in Mississippi deserve to be supported by their state. 37% of Mississippi is black!!! They deserve to be respected in their own damn state!
If you are a Mississippian, I urge you to contact your local representatives. Even if you are not, you can send emails or call Mississippi elected officials from this website.
