The violence against LGBTQI community members in Mexico is an intersectional issue because our culture is very rooted to certain ways of life and when people try to go in a different way they get very criticize and even murdered. Our culture has most of the time very close-minded ideas and because of this we can not accept other races, other sexual orientations and so on. Most Mexican people are catholic and the religion comes with a belief that God created men and women to be with each other, not man with man or woman with woman and that also contributes a lot with intersectionalism. But Catholicism is now more accepting of gay people.
The class definitely has a lot to do with this problem because most people in mexico are from a low class which means lack of education at a very young age and this means that they are not going to get educated on this topic instead they are going to follow the beliefs that their parents have thought the which most of the time are wrong and very close-minded. Very few people have the privilege of being in a high class environment and some of this people might understand LGBTQI people better, but even in this social status persist the bullying against this people because of our rooted culture.
