     “You haven’t lived in America until you’ve tried a hot dog loaded like this one,” Ash says before placing the small wrapper with the warm dog inside, overloaded with onions, shredded cheese, relish, and mustard. It’s one of his favorites, and while it may be something small, Eiji has to at least try it. “I know how you feel about mustard, but you made me try natto. I think it’s a fair trade off, don’t you think?”

"Eiji--” Sing started, shutting the lid of the laptop over the stack of papers he had been trying to get in order. He just hoped that he hadn’t realized they were all about making sure Lao’s body was taken care of and interred next to Shorter’s ashes. “I didn’t realize you stayed home. Do you need anything?”

Ibe looked over at Eiji, sitting on the airplane next to him. He’d brought Eiji here, hoping to help him find himself again.

Somehow he felt he’d made it worse. “....i did, I swear I did Ei-chan.”

*traces one of his scars*

     The scar he traces is a scar from a knife, a wound that Ash remembers as if it happened just yesterday. Each scar he remembers because how could he forget they were there? Most of the time Ash ached when he remembered them, not because the scars were there, but because he remembered what happened to him with each and every one. This time... it feels a little different, almost as if Eiji is purifying them. It feels dramatic to think that, especially since Eiji is merely touching them, but it always feels dramatic when he’s with Eiji. There’s never been a happiness like he feels with Eiji, Ash is sure of it.

     “That one was from a knife fight. It was a fight for territory... they were comin’ after one of my guys and I couldn’t let it happen. Might’ve gotten the guy to retreat, but I got a pretty nasty scar to remember it by.” One wouldn’t think it bothered Ash considered he talked about it like it was the weather, but the look in his eyes told everything.
