Lizzy was stuck up in her dorm. Her windows boarded up with thick blankets covering them, allowing no sunlight to peak through. The chaos that took place was more than she expected. She wanted to leave, look out the window, move the long blanket just a bit and take a peak. But she wouldn’t. She tucked her legs to her chest next to the bed. It’d been three days since the outbreak, she had always joked about an apocalypse, but she never actually thought it’d happen.
As the dim light flickered a bit, her mind started to wonder. What happened to everyone else? Were they locked in their rooms as well? Maybe they were okay, maybe they had didn’t leave the grounds despite the desire to see their families and how they were doing. Her mind from one friend to the next.
Her mind stopped at her friend Chanhee. How was he? He had a quick sense and seemed like a good fighter? How was he…? Just as she began to think more about him a knock from the door was heard.Someone was crazy enough to go outside with those things walking around? Let alone knock on a door. she jumped up to see who it was. Someone was actually alive still. Running over to the doors she unlocked it as quick as she possibly could. Looking through the peephole she gasped. It was the younger she was thinking about a few seconds ago. How did he get here? Was he on campus? What the heck was he holding? Her mind filled with questions. She opened the door, quickly grabbing his arm and dragging him inside before closing and locking the door again.
Looking him up and down for bites or scratches she squeezed out a question. “How did you get here?” She looked up at his face with a questionable look. “I was visiting,” he replied, “I was heading out when one of those things walked in.” He paused for a second before starting up again, “I watched it walk in, something was off, I thought it was someone who needed help… I ran up to it and that when I saw it. Its throat…” He hesitated for a second. “His throat?” She asked curious. “It was ripped and looked like someone took a bite out of it.” She covered her mouth at the thought. “I realized and ran off and hid out at Sunggyu hyung’s place with him for a bit.” He finished."So you came face-to-face with one?" She asked intently. He just nodded. A heavy silence fell between the older and younger. She had more to ask but knew that she shouldn’t. "W-what about Gyu?" She choked out. The boy froze before answering. "He went out about a half hour ago." His face had a sullen look.
She didn’t know what to say. The silence was so thick. “I’ll get you some water.” She said before standing up and getting a luck-warm bottle of water. She handed it to him. “Sorry, it’s warm.” She said with a half smile. Sitting down in front of him she sighed. “Chanhee…” She began, “What if… More people are stuck up in there rooms like us? What if we can help them?” She said leaning forward with an eager look. “Well… What do you expect me to do?” He replied. “I’m not asking for the world. But if you don’t have the guts, fine.” She said standing up and putting her hands firmly on her hips. “I’m going to help them. And we’re all gonna get out of this hell of a place.” She nodded, basically asking if he’d be coming. He smirked before standing up. “Fine. I’m in.”
