The elves in my world react to tying themselves to the Gods/ getting their tattoos in a few different ways. If they’re lucky they get an affinity for magics that have to do with their element, or a strong pull toward doing the gods will. But there are a few who become aspects of the gods themselves, Channeling pieces of the gods as a vessel, and usually becoming a berserker shifter in the process. It’s not pretty, and it’s very painful, but these magic users are rare and rather sought after too, as they are seen as one step closer to the gods.

Channelers have a secret sign language they use only with each other, as communication in the Duke’s service is often tricky. As Seath’s hearing is so fine and their duties often rely on talking to and for him, they started using sign to talk privately with each other until it became common habit within their circle.
