maybe it’s bc i never trust anyone in these shows but im convinced chanon (palm’s dad) is Not A Good Guy.

right before the family is attacked outside, he insists that he has to go get the car (leaving them unguarded) so that they don’t get wet, even though pipop (nueng’s dad) says that they don’t mind. when he comes back, for someone who’s supposed to be their defender, he manages to only graze the attacker’s arm, and he’s able to escape while chanon shoots at his back conveniently missing every other shot. and then he doesn’t call an ambulance, at least not immediately as he again should be trained to be prepared for, or maybe even be trained on how to best handle a wound while waiting for paramedics. but he just stands there like a useless shit.

plus they keep emphasising the family members referring to pipop as someone they’ve known for years and trust implicitly, he’s family to them. putting so much emphasis on that for me signals that he’s going to betray them/has betrayed them and it’s meant to be a shock (to them) bc all along he’s supposed to have been one of the most trustworthy.

besides which, it would be another kinnporsche-type parallel where kinn’s dad was directly involved in the death of porsche’s parents, and that’s something they have to work through in the same way palm and nueng will need to. chanon also may have recruited palm to begin with because he thinks he will be easily manipulated bc of their relation, unlike a professional bodyguard who may take a bit more convincing.

uncle kit seems like a douche, but i wouldn’t be surprised if 1) he’s basically useless and makes empty threats, put in to make us focus on him instead of the real villain, and/or 2) he and kit are somehow in cahoots.

#the gifted #the gifted graduation #mek jirakit #victor chatchawit #victor zheng #nanon korapat #pang #chanon #chanonpom #chanon destroys me. over and over again he destroys me. and the way chanonpom successfully miscommunicate & fuck each other up kills me too #this gifset is all about idealistic chanon being spurred on to fight the good fight and do the right thing bc of his inherent love for pom #but how the betrayal (and his own martyr complex - in the end he didn't tell pom abt the file switch when they were teens) ruined that #how he became hardened and bitter and lost sight of everything that made him Chanon Taweepong.#much like the shows itself this gifset has a shift that i hope is noticeable - the way that chanon was the one to reassure pom that #they can win this and that they should do this and how he was very much the leader in terms of the revolution against the system #(which obviously fails bc the main theme of the gifted is the revolution of the MASSES against the system - that is more apparent in tgg)#but how bc he lost sight of that - pom stepped up to the plate. everything that chanon was for pom all those years ago #a support a rock a comfort ... he now becomes for chanon.#one of their most painful parallels is how chanon helped pom get through the most difficult time in his life and how pom immediately #IMMEDIATELY!!! says that chanon must live. he cannot die until the both of them can die together. what an apology. what a promise.#the caption is actually also one of my fave parallels to snack on: the first line was said by pom in the gifted before he erases chanon's #memories in context of how it's gonna ruin pom's life etc ... and after that sentence chanon just goes dead silent. bc he already HAS #taken the blame for it. pom says it like he doesn't believe chanon would but it's so harrowing bc chanon already HAS.#2nd line was said by chanon during the scene in tgg ep 10 where he stabs him w the nyxx thing in regards to how pom erased his memory and #didn't even think about the choice of Not doing that and rebelling against the director instead. both of them have so much doubt surrounding #the other person's love for them and they don't believe that the other would sacrifice everything for them which is why they ASK #but in answer to line 1) yes. chanon already has. and to line 2) maybe pom didn't dare to choose then but he does choose now.#bc now he comes to the rooftop and now he stops chanon from 'doing something stupid' and now he rebels against the director #the love they hold for each other is insane insane insane #rahul.gif
