SUBLETHAL EFFECTS OF ARSENIC ON SOMEBIOCHEMICAL AND HISTOLOGICAL ALTERATIONS IN THE MUSCLE TISSUE OF THE MILK FISH Chanos chanos | UTTAR PRADESH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGY
The aim of this study was to see how a sublethal concentration of arsenic (96 LC50 – 10% SLC) affected the biochemical composition and histology of the milk fish Chanoschanos' muscle over the course of 10, 20, and 30 days. Both control and experimental fish had their glycogen, protein, and lipid levels calculated. The biochemical constituents (carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids) in the experimental fish decreased with time during the exposure periods. Degeneration of muscle fibres, oedema, atrophy of muscle fibres, and shortening of the muscle bundle were the histopathological changes caused in the muscle.
