From The Archive: Coffeehouse culture ☕️ came to downtown Bakersfield in the nineties at 1523 19th St. First as Matches Coffeehouse, then Chaos, where Mento Buru had lots of sweaty, all-ages shows and all at a very ska-ffordable price. If you were one of the local hip kids, geeks, or skaters looking for a place to hangout and catch a show this where you hitched a ride to get your caffeine fix, play Magic cards and loiter. The band Cake from Sacramento (yes, thee Cake,) played one of their early shows there too. After Chaos closed, it became Bottom’s Up Canteen, then (and currently) Riley’s Tavern ☘️- which we also had shows at. Point us to an available power outlet, we’ll take it from there. 😎👍🏽 . . . . . . #mentoburu #chaoscoffee #downtownbakersfield #bakersfieldmusic #skaflyer #bakersfieldmusichistory #californiaska #thirdwaveska #ninetiesska (at Downtown Bakersfield) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCoQXrFgYpv/?igshid=ggosf13m8ynz
