Steve and Eddie waking up after a drunk hangout, convinced that they kissed. They end up having a conversation about it, deciding to give the two of them together a go. They're great together.
Robin, the designated sober friend for the night, waits decades until they finally get married to pull out the reveal that they never kissed that night. She has no idea where they got the idea from.
Robin, sat for hours just squinting at Eddie, desperately trying to figure out what it is about him that has Steve so enraptured. She doesn't get it, has pointed out that he's like a wet rat, but Steve just gives her those sad lil puppy eyes because "I think he's pretty 🥺"
Eddie and Robin fake dating to try and gain some closet security but also hoping for the added benefit of making Steve jealous enough to finally make a move on Eddie.
All it does is make Steve stroppy that Robin didn't ask him to be her fake boyfriend.
what if Dustin only figures out that Steve and Eddie are secretly dating bc of how possessive Steve and Robin are?
like Steve got a blanket specially for Robin and everyone thought she'd hate it bc it's got a hawkins basketball team print on it but she's extremely protective of it and neither of them let anyone else even touch it bc it's Robins.
but then, one night, Dustin catches Steve gently placing it over a sleeping Eddie and knows immediately what is happening. there's only one reason that Steve would share that blanket with anyone other than Robin.
The way Robin would not be helpful at all if Steve turned to her for advice about his relationship with Eddie... she would always side with Steve no matter what, ride or die. Even if it's something tiny and not at all "a problem", she would be ready to stab Eddie for in any way going against her man. Eddie is terrified of her.
Steve and Robin bumping into each other when they were oggling Eddie and Chrissy in high school. Steve panics, thinking she's caught him, and accuses her of looking at girls first. She counters that he was looking at boys.
It takes a while but, eventually, realising that they're both in the same boat. They decide to fake date as a cover for both of them, trying desperately to come across as straight and "normal".
Eddie, who had already found out about Robin after a high night together, is a little too protective and tries to confront Steve about it. He wants to make sure she's safe and not at risk because of her association with him.
It devolves into Steve panicking and admitting to his crush on Eddie in hopes of protecting Robin, trying to keep her from being outed... which only endears him to Eddie, who is immediately full of heart eyes.
Steve, Robin and Eddie vacationing and ending up on a beach one day but it just results in Steve and Robin playing in the ocean, having the time of their life, only come out every now and then to reapply sunscreen to themselves and Eddie and turn Eddie over every now and then bc it turns out if he sits in the sun for more than a minute he just falls asleep (Steve leaves a little heart on his stomach by applying way too much sunscreent here so it's still pale white <3)
Dustin tries to work it so Steve and Eddie have to share a bed one night in hopes of forcing them to be best friends, and Eddie goes along with it because he and Steve have been sharing looks that has him hopeful… only for Robin to grab onto Steve like she’s digging her claws in.
