Chapin Way Gourmet: Mai Pham
Every year on the last day of classes, Smith hosts a big end-of-the-year dinner celebration for students on Chapin Lawn. This year we were lucky enough to be joined by celebrity chef and cookbook author, Mai Pham, who curated a menu that incorporated authentic flavors of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, and included vegan, gluten-free, halal and kosher options as well. In addition to an incredible meal on the lawn, students were able to enjoy music provided by Smith’s own radio station, WOZQ, as well as craft tables and activities that included temporary tattoos, face painting, a designated “Beer Garden” for 21+, and an ice cream truck provided by the local Maple Valley Creamery.
While a small (teeny tiny) part of me is sad that classes have ended and my sophomore year is practically over, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the passing of another year. Food and friends, man. Pretty sweet combo.
