Magic Kaito chapter 32

There is a reason why I stated in this post that Kaito needed a magician rival... that reason is this chapter.
A rival does wonders to Kaito. He's a bit more diverse in this chapter I think. There's a level of suspense here that I haven't felt from Gosho in a very long time. The mystery is more engaging, the character interaction is more substantial, the magician politics are more prevalent to the protag. It's just really refreshing!
I loved that scene with Chikage. Not only is she a kick-ass mom and almost hilariously bold she brings up something that is... kinda neat.
"If your curious why don't you go to Las Vegas and give it a go?... You're good enough to go on stage there."
That's a given. Kaito is very good. But I think it's the first time anyone's ever brought Kaito's future, non-Kid related aspirations up. Come to think of it. it's probably the first time a character has ever had that question brought up. (Yes we can assume very easily that Shinichi will open up an agency but he never shows any thought or notion of it. That's why it's also really hard to figure what Ran wants a career in.) Just like his counterpart and his father we just assume that Kaito will perform, but there is something tummy-tickling about that being brought up. Not only in subject but with the context of abandoning the mantle! My MK fic explores this very concept, so maybe that's why I'm so fond of it. :)
I loved the four teen's appearances! Akako's witch-y skills are currently in the comfortable zone of extensive mythical knowledge which is useful more on a thematically standpoint... It is very pleasing. Hakuba's the only one who strikes me as odd in this whole set up. He's kinda being shoved into an exposition role. Makes me a little miffed cause he's only managed to gain my favor through head-canons and fanfics-- this ruins any chance for realistic expectations from his character, but I'm not rushing on the judgement.
As for the plot, I'm mystified. The concept of a fellow pupil brings into question the teacher of Touichi. That is a question I never thought of. It was a relief to me to hear that because I was afraid of a Touichi-survival plot.... like we're talking immensely relieved. (I stand by this regardless!!) Color me insanely curious.
In the end all this talk of "Kuroba" and the surrounding plumage has me nervous..
This is really awesome! Thank you so much Souka Scans! I'm almost sad that Gosho will be turning the torch back over to his prized child soon. Hopefully he was reminded of something while producing these chapters!
