It’s times like these that I appreciate that everyone has their own moral compass, even among the protagonists. Of course there are frequently times where everyone comes together under a common goal, but often their reasons are different. For instance, back in Alabasta, Zoro wouldn’t have rescued Smoker from the water but he did so because Luffy asked him to. Here, Sanji follows what he more or less calls the pirate code, not backing down from the challenge despite Nami’s pleading, and Zoro’s of the same mindset.

And now we have Robin trying to calm Nami down. It’s hard to say what Robin thinks about the so-called law of the sea or pirate code or whatever, but regardless she goes along with Luffy’s decision without question.

In the SBS, Oda mentions that Sanji gave Nami and Robin cotton candy; Robin doesn’t care for it, but she took a bite anyway to be polite and then gave the rest to Chopper. 

Also, we have another real-world reference! In the real world, the origin of the name Davy Jones is disputed, but here he is stated to be a pirate.
