Hi Sophie! I’d like a little character help for a bit more flushed our background for the label The Magnet? She didn’t come from the best background as her family was very AntiLGBTQ+. Any help be much appreciated!

hi there ! so, for what i’ve heard about ‘the magnet’ being used as a label, they’re typically a person who draws other people in ! i can definitely see somebody with homophobic parents becoming a magnet - in fact, one of my long-term partners writes a ‘magnet’-esque character from a homophobic background ! here are some ideas:

what’s her social life like? how did it become like that? clearly, she has a lot of friends, but do these friends really know her? is she out to any of them? it probably takes a lot for her to trust someone enough to come out to them; how many people is she out to, if any? how did she develop a relationship with the people that she is out to? 

is she still in contact with her parents? is she closeted to them? do they know about her sexuality/gender? do they still talk to her because of it? 

why are they homophobic? is it because of religious beliefs? how they were raised? does she have siblings who are also homophobic? is she still in contact with them?

what’s her made family like? who are the closest people in her life? is she out and proud with them? are any of them queer? what do they do together? does she live with any of them? 

is she an extrovert or an introvert? does she actually enjoy being the magnet? or would she prefer spending time with one or two close friends as opposed to attracting all of these people into her circle?

what does she excel in? what are her hobbies? how does she spend her free time? where’s her favorite place to work? does she donate time or money volunteering with any organizations that are close to her heart?

for sure, i’m happy to help ! so you want to start with someone who’s rich and popular, cool ;* what does she like to do in her spare time? is she an artist? does she want to make movies? is she really into chemistry? * why do people like her? is it because she has money that she flaunts, or is it because of her personality? * does she spend free time volunteering at an animal shelter or a retirement home or a hospital? * what’s her family like? how did they make their money, does she have siblings? older or younger? are her parents in her life or absent from it?* does she feel burdened by her wealth, or freed by it? is she the type to spend the money left and right, or does she save it? do people know how rich she is? * what’s her biggest secret? does she want to leave everything she knows behind and go live somewhere else in the world where no one knows her name? is she giving money to organizations that her family doesn’t agree with?* why is she friends with her friends? does she actually like them, or does she feel burdened by them? are there other people around her that she would prefer to be friends with?* what’s her romantic & sexual situation like? is she in love with her significant other? what’s their monetary situation like - is she the rich one, or is the s/o also wealthy and popular?build up a world around her ! show the people you play her against that she isn’t _just_ rich and popular, she might be a philanthropist, or an artist, or someone who wants to do medical research. it’s all about what direction you think you want to go with her! i hope some of this helped :)
