The reason Reed’s kids are so important to him are because of the lack of a relationship he had with his own father. In pop culture people that are gifted, intelligent, scientists, etc. are always for some reason portrayed with a lack of emotion rather than having a hard time conveying it. I think Reed’s a deeply emotive, empathetic person who just has a hard time turning off his thoughts and the way he thinks about things. He considers all the options, he sometimes thinks about the all the different ramifications of being vulnerable with someone and weighs out the cost of it and potential outcomes xyz and beyond and this is all simply about something like picking socks to wear on a first date or saying he doesn’t like fish let alone the big stuff. But that’s where I really think he’s evolved as a character and becoming a father. He’s learned he doesn’t have to micro analyze every possible outcome and emotion to be a good dad and I will kindly say you’re wrong to anyone who doesn’t think he’s a good dad or thinks he’s an unemotional robot that doesn’t care about people, let alone his kids because HE DOES. He would give those children anything, regardless of the universe, whether he and Sue are together or not there’s not a world that he wouldn’t move or bend or sacrifices he wouldn’t make to see his children happy.
And that’s the Reed I want to see portrayed in the upcoming MCU films regardless of who plays him. Make Reed a scientist but don’t make him the trope of a scientist and not a person.
He’s such a human person that’s in tune with his humanity and feelings and thoughts and that’s what makes him my favorite marvel character. Reed does EVERYTHING for his friends and family, please don’t make him a stereotype that’s outdated and overdone Marvel.
