⠀ « miss lianna, your interview is starting. »
⠀ 𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆, the blond warrior’s vision starts to come back into view. she was sitting in an office with a red─haired woman holding a clipboard, looking at 𝐀𝐘𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐒’ 𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐑 with a raised brow. cerulean blue eyes scan the room carefully. there were various knick─knacks upon the plethora of oak shelves held by nails; most were rusted antiques that seemed like it could be from different eras. her gaze lowers to meet the coffee table between herself &. the interviewer. a batch of chocolate cookies sat in a silver platter accompanied by two china teacups &. a matching pot, the beverage’s sweet, floral scent practically slapping 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 back to reality.
⠀ that’s right────she was invited to 𝐅𝐎́𝐋𝐃𝐀𝐍 to obtain a new opportunity. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐘, an academic school where various students came from diverse social standings, trained to become better versions of themselves under different houses that categorized them.
⠀ ❝ yes, my apologies──. this spot was quite homely. i must have gotten lost with how much it relates to a place i knew back home… ❞
⠀ 𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐄.
⠀ the ginger across from her tweaks a smile, « i see. i’m glad this office provides you with much comfort. it’s important to get to know our newest recruits if they feel safe enough to share the answers to our questions. »
⠀ 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐈𝐏𝐒 the feathered pen in ink several times before making its way to the notepad in her palms.
⠀ « so, tell me… what has led you to where you are today ? »
⠀ 𝐀 𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄, 𝐘𝐄𝐓 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐓 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇. being 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐄𝐍────or rather, half of a ruler alongside her sibling, 𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐍────was never part of her goals. it was a responsibility that was placed upon the twins since they were born. even to this day, the regal idea of ruling over their country, 𝐀𝐘𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐒, created indefinite butterflies in her stomach.
⠀ what if they couldn’t lead their country like their father did ?⠀ what if the twins couldn’t live up to their mother’s expectations ?⠀ what if the people didn’t accept them as rulers ? ⠀ ────always the what if’s that terrified her to the core.
⠀ it wasn’t until 𝐀𝐘𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐒 was under attack. their mother had been ripped away from the duo &. taken hostage right before them. all they had left was a shield; a last─ditch effort to restore their kingdom. in fact, having it was the best she’s ever known. she found 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐒 that encouraged her every step of the way &. listened to their advice as 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐄𝐒 who faced a similar situation. not to mention, the bonds between her 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 grew even stronger now that they returned safely into each other’s arms.
⠀ however, with this newfound power, 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 lost their childhood companion in the midst of their battle, sacrificing himself to rid of the sins 𝐕𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐙𝐀𝐑𝐊 committed while controlling his vessel like a puppet. this loss hit 𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐍 &. 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 much harder than ever with less time to grieve in the heat of battle. there may have been some regrets the two faced… but in the end, all of the painful memories &. lasting relationships have formed into stepping stones of unforgettable experiences.
⠀ ❝ ultimately, i must give credit to where it is due. my family &. friends are my drive &. motivation of what i am today. if it weren’t for them, i would have never had the courage to stand for what i believe in &. the dreams my people share alongside us. much less have the confidence to take the crown alongside my brother, or rather… be sitting here in this room right now, ❞ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄 𝐖𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐃𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐒.
⠀ the interviewer nods at her response, scribbling down notes of her caring statement. 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 watches them drabble on the paper prior to the black feather tickling the graceful woman’s jawline.
⠀ « well, it’s clear that you’ve had some time to self-reflect upon these decisions. confidence can be a shaky feeling, which can affect how you can endure a situation clearly. in most cases, i’ve heard similar stories like yours as they apply into this academy────your stance is reasonable beyond all means. understanding one’s self could be a challenge. sometimes, individuals don’t comprehend what they lack, or overlook it with greater qualities to mask the flaws that they have. »
⠀ 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐒 out a relieved sigh. the knot in her chest almost washes away when met with their sympathy.
⠀ « any other weaknesses i should be acknowledged of ? what about your strengths ? »
⠀ ❝ i would say the ability to strategize in battle. being able to be calm &. collected is one of the most essential characteristics when fighting. mother &. the others claim i compliment my twin brother who’s the opposite of me… ❞
⠀ 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐓𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐒 a lock of golden hair behind her ears sheepishly, ❝ he’s more of the impulsive type, but he never hesitates. that’s what i admire him for. while i can’t make those decisions quickly, he will do what’s necessary right then &. there. i’ll make sure that he doesn’t fall into danger, even if we have to argue about it unfortunately ! ❞
⠀ 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆, she couldn’t help but reminisce at the memories of themselves causing arguments of the correct tactics to initiate battle. both were stubborn people. although, together──── 𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐍 &. 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 were an unstoppable force who matched each other like a complete puzzle piece.
⠀ « i see. your sibling is like your counterpart who you trust your life completely… if that’s the case, i would like to inquire one last question for you. » 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐃𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐒 her slim figure to lean forward, « if a story were to be written about your lives, what role would you play in it ? »
⠀ 𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐒 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐔𝐁 against the back of their palms. thinking about it more, she couldn’t decide things on her own terms. it was usually the pair together on an adventure, or none at all.
⠀ this time, 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 was on her own. she was the only one out of the two who received an invitation to this prestige school.
⠀ it was difficult for the two of them to come to terms with this. the young queen remembers that very day when her brother’s excitement quickly turned to disappointment, knowing that he hadn’t been delivered his own invite. the disbelief on his face struck her heart. for days, 𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐍 sulked around the castle, avoiding her completely. immense guilt struck her as she stared at this invitation, contemplating if it was a mistake.
⠀ the day that the older twin was going to deny their request was when he overexerted himself. worry constantly set in her mind as he’d been bedridden for a whole day. she never stopped tending to his bedside, quietly blaming herself.
⠀ when he awoke, she needed to discuss it with him;⠀ the decision that she finalized on.
⠀ 𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐀𝐍 stopped her just as she was about to speak. admitting clearly, he’d been upset that he wasn’t chosen alongside her. doubt clouded his head, wondering if he hadn’t proven his own talent in comparison to his own twin. he was just as capable as 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀. he realized in his own bed that the issue was deeply rooted in his doubt to leave his own twin sister &. own up to his flaws.
⠀ he hoped one day that he would attend, showing his capabilities to everyone at the academy. for now, it was her time to shine. this was her opportunity that could never be missed in this dull life they spent.
⠀ 𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 teared up that night, holding his hand &. promising to write every day to him about the journey of her improvement. she was in it to come back as a better person, sister, &. ruler to their country.
⠀ ❝ … i believe we are all heroes of our own story. we define who we are depending on what beliefs are &. how we act on them. if there comes a point where i must assist others with their own tales, then i’ll do so. ❞
⠀ 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐖, she glances up at the clear, blue sky.
⠀ ❝ the other half of our story will continue with me until he arrives. i know he will. i have faith that my brother come here soon. when that comes, aytolis’ story will complete itself together. ❞
