Character Realizations;
Vane: "What the fuck did I ever do to you?" Eleanor: "You made me look weak. Standing beside you I was your lesser. I was a girl. From the moment you met me you must have known I'd never settle for that - for being less than." Vane: "I thought I loved you - and you destroyed me."
This was an important scene from the Black Sails brought to my attention by @mercutiomalache because the two Vane & Eleanor do act much like Mercutio & Diaage did in times past.
The one reason why she never enjoyed her husbands - and at sometimes Mercutio - was that in their discourse they made her feel lesser. When she stood beside them - especially her second husband - wanted to use the power she had acquired and wanted her to submit in public and be the “proper little wife”.
Now Mercutio never truly wanted that for Diaage, especially when he wanted her free from Lord Valadil’s chains - but at times he did make her look weak. It’s a sign of true relationship to the struggle between Mercutio and Diaage that both have usurped the other in past interactions. Whether it be romantically or business.
It’s a unique relationship that will always be memorable to the character and the player and I truly look forward to more interactions in the future.
