Character Tips; Cirno.
Character tips; Cirno, the Absolute Strongest in the Universe.
Cirno doesn’t mess around. She doesn’t mess with bullets, or, rather, has decided not to unleash her powerful arsenal of them, because it’d be over far too fast. She’s also pulling her punches, making her melee attacks fast but low-damaging. In an effort to keep the opponent alive long enough to enjoy herself, Cirno has made herself one of the game’s most extreme characters. While most of the cast has a way to get around the enemy’s bullets aside from Flight, Cirno doesn’t. She doesn’t have any grazing specials at all, having to rely on her easily-punished slide to get under danmaku. Her bullets are terribly fragile and direct, and could hardly be used to win a fireball war. This means that flying and dashing are crucial to playing her, and using her above-average mobility and small size to your advantage will allow you to get her in the most excellent of positions; Next to your opponent.
More than any other character, Cirno NEEDS to get in. When she’s in close, she can use one of her many hearty block strings to break away huge chunks of the opponent’s spirit gauge, all of which are incredibly safe. From there, she can use her quick, invincible supers to punish the opponent’s escape attempts, or use her unblockable Frozen technique to punish them for weathering her assault. She’s even deadlier in the corner, where her amazing 5C bullet keeps them locked down for an extended period, and her Icicle Sword can punish every attempt to jump out. Add in some tricky trap bullets for Okizeme, and Cirno really can be the strongest in the game at times.
If you like playing as the underdog, dodging and weaving through your opponent’s attacks time after time to land your deadly blows, then Cirno is the character for you. Playing her almost feels at times like playing one of the bullet hell games the series is known for.
