I don’t understand why Russia is most often a seme, even in 100% consensual relationships.

I don’t understand why Russia is most often a seme, even in 100% consensual relationships.
I wish tumblr users from ex-Soviet countries would stop trying to convince everyone that Russia the character is a sadistic monster and that he isn’t 90% of the time in canon smiling, being polite, blushing, chuckling and being surrounded by a pink flowery aura.
Also, Russia is over a millennium old, there is more to Russia than the Soviet period. Just like there is more to Germany’s history than the Nazi period; a fact the fans will be super quick to tell you. But the same fans flanderize Ivan to a raping, murdering communist in their fanworks.
A lot of Russia ships confuse and kind of annoy me. He doesn’t get along with very many characters in canon aside from his sisters, China, and India, and yet people ship him with the whole world. I just don’t get it.
I wish that people thinking that 'Becoming one with Russia' means getting 'married' or he's going to 'rape' you. It really means 'Let's fight together and become comrades'.
As a Russian it annoys me how fans treat Modern Russia as a psychotic sadist and rapist in such a casual, lighthearted way. The Cold War is over, American fans, you may stop with the villifying. How would you like it if the fandom treated America in such a way?
How would you feel if people made fanart of America cackling madly when he hears news that a new country has found oil in it’s soil?
Or have him torturing anyone that looked at him the wrong way?
Or have jokes about America bombing your house like an Afghan family’s if you as much as annoy him?
You are not the only ones who can feel offended.
I’m not quite sure if it’s an unpopular opinion, but as much as I enjoy Hetalia for what it is, sometimes I miss a more twisted side of the characters. I know that there are these 2!p characters, but I have to admit that I don’t like this concept so much. As if the 2!p characters are supposed to be the ‘bad’ guys, while their canon counterparts are the good ones. Himaruya describes canon!Russia as a more twisted character and I like that somehow. Like humans, nations are never just ‘good’ or ‘evil’. And maybe that’s an unpopular opinion for itself, but when Russia and Germany ‘signed’ the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in the manga, I really missed a faint smile on Germany’s lips; instead he’s a good boy and worries about Italy’s safety. Russia can have a ‘dark secret’, but the other nations are all good guys? I know that the countries represent stereotypes, but then… it’s somehow sad to see that the common cliché for Russia is a scheming character.
Partisan warfare chibi style~ by ~xeimaNte
"It's based on real events by the way. Partisan warfare was a big deal in Lithuania and the biggest underground resistance to the Soviets. (the resistance was big in Ukraine too) Poor things they had horrible conditions, lack of food, arms and pretty much anything else. The only hope the guys had were the idea that American forces would show up to help, cause you know, they kind of promised they would with the whole Truman Doctrine and Atlantic Charter stuff. They never did though, and why I understand why (an open war with USSR is no good) it still is a dick move >:T"
I love Russia’s nose.
