Just started a fortress in the coolest new location. Welcome to Charcoalfrost!
As it begins to take shape you'll notice the fortress is hewn from a large layer of obsidian and microcline. A fascinating set of stones to be sure
Here at the surface you'll see the Jungles of mortifying, a large expansive Larch forest. Notoriously wild and maybe(?) evil. To the south you'll see the dreadful ocean. Here it snows frozen goblin blood over the nasty evil ocean. The black sand and basalt pebble beaches that line this dreadful beach are certainly something to behold.
My general plan for the fortress is to have a tunnel that runs under the ocean at some point. Given there isn't evil slime or clouds I believe this should be possible. I think the forests aren't actually evil, rather only untamed wilds. I've seen horseshoe crabs and undead wolves across the landscape. My dwarves were smart and decided to bring a heard of reindeer as animals to the plains. They were also not the smartest in bringing a single elephant to draw their wagon, along with a donkey.
The expedition was lead out here by Olin Roderfikod, a cruel and tough dwarf who is perhaps greedy, yet not violent as a dwarf. Certainly a sturdy dwarf to lead these dwarves to this frigid and evil land.
I might post more about this fortress in the future as I am very excited to see where this one goes. Just quickly chose a randomly selected name before realizing how cool this place is but Charcoalfrost will do.
