Just in case you were interested in coming to the IWJ Festival tomorrow, I wanted to let you know that due to unforeseen circumstances, the time of the 2018 International Women in Jazz Festival has been changed. It will still be held this Saturday, April 28, 2018 But will be from from 12:30pm to 6pm at St Peters Church on 54th street and Lexington Avenue in NYC and this year’s honoree will be Dottie Anita Taylor. The Pace Report: "The Lyrical Offering of Brother Gil and Brian" The Charenee Wade Interview

Here's the latest edition of The Pace Report featuring Motema Records jazz vocalist Charenee Wade performing new music from her tribute record to the great poet and musicians Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson titled, "Offering." This is Charenee's second recording and she pays tribute to one of the best reflective storytellers as well as social critics during the late 1960's up until his death.

I sat down with Charenee at the Jazz Standard during her record release performance last week and talked about what Gil and Brian mean now with the latest rash of events that have been taking place in the black community as well as her bringing a contemporary twist to their music in jazz form.
