Everyone receives gifts from the Lord that were given for the good of that community. Not all gifts are the same. Not everyone has received the same gift. This is important, for it means that we need everyone and their gifts to make the community complete. If we do not allow certain members of the community to share their gifts, we will be subtly rejecting the gifts that the Spirit of God has given to us, and we will be lacking something of what we need to grow in the Spirit.

As is likely evident to you by the title of my blog, I grew up in a charismatic Christian denomination - the Assemblies of God, to be specific. I know what it is to be a charismatic Christian. In addition to this, I have a Masters in Philosophy and Apologetics, and my thesis dealt with a primary teaching based in Christian mysticism. Why do I tell you this? As I was studying Christian mysticism, I noticed that there seem to be a great deal of overlap between these ideologies. Read more here.

A kind of deconstruction ...

As my wife and I transition for a season out of church leadership, I'm trying to understand all that has happened. All that has gone on, all that needs to be learned, all that needs to be forgotten. I'm so thankful for this past season, as hard and traumatic as it has been. No doubt there are things to share about the experience of coming out of the Church of England - less a political move than a mission focused moved. Ironic, given the climate the C of E faces, with doctrinal and financial issues coming down the pike ...

There is so much to add to this, but not the headspace to lay out it out right ... I'll keep this going with updates.
