Roxanne ‘Roxy Rocket’ Sutton was formerly a stunt double for a Hollywood actress. She adored danger and constantly pushed the envelope with stunts that were progressively more thrilling and perilous. She quickly garnered a notorious reputation and her expensive exploits ultimately drove her out of show business.
Out of work but still hungering for thrills, Sutton turned to life of crime. Utilizing a flying rocket-sled of her own design, Roxy stole high end jewelry, art and antiquities. She fenced these items through The Penguin. Unlike other villains in Gotham City, Roxy's crimes were fairly benign. She was always the only one being put at risk. And Batman took similar risks in his efforts to catch Roxy in midair chases, leading Roxy to believe Batman was a kindred spirit who understood the addictive pleasure of intense thrill-seeking.
Roxy’s compulsion to attract Batman’s attention greatly troubled The Penguin, who feared that he would be implicated in her crimes. He sent his henchmen, Jay, Lark and Raven to take out Roxy yet they proved no match for the clever thrill-seeker and Roxy got away.
Batman eventually captured Roxy and she was somewhat heartbroken that he was more interested in ensuring her safety rather than obtaining the ultimate rush. Roxy was handed over to the authorities, but it would not be too long before she would return in her never-ended quest for danger and excitement.
Actress Charity James provided the voice for Roxy Rocket, with the thrill-seeker first appearing in the fourteenth episode of the first season of The New Batman Adventures, ‘The Ultimate Thrill.’
