People on Twitter are larping Walten Files acting like a theme of social prejudice isn’t in it so have my thoughts:

Racism is CLEARLY in there, a white American guy sold a Chilean immigrant the American dream of the 50’s just to steal it from him and pretend he doesn’t exist, possibly being the one to kill him, at the very least covering his death up.

There’s also a thing of white guy kills mixed kids, drugs another one and gets away with it. (there’s a good twitter thread on the American Dream bit, linked here), also photo below for further reference:

People have already pointed this out many-a-times, Chris was most definitely affected by racism. Harrison (twitter mutual) pointed out the fact Felix probably groomed Chris, which is very likely. He very clearly cared about Rose trying to help her, but is very clearly held back by Felix: a white man stopping a black man from doing something especially in the 70s is very much impacted by racism.

Chris clearly has some involvement in this stuff, he was seen loading the animatronics in relocate project meaning he stays with the company when Richie (who based on his picture is white, or at least could pass as white) left. And the bodies were very clearly removed and buried somewhere presumably in Saint Juana’s. Chris probably helped with this. Also- I already made a theory posed on Twitter, linked here, about how Jack definitely died in some form by the phone in Bon’s, Chris probably helped hide his body, and even cover up his missing posters. It’s assumed that in ‘Be Excited’ it’s Chris covering his poster up.

Sadly they didn’t give a source but i do vaguely remember this from one of the spaces around like 2023/2024. This would mean that Jack was trying to blend in as an immigrant into a white town- and something id like to add, Jack isn’t white either.

Also:

While yeah maybe Rose was just in grief she definitely knew how racism was. She married an immigrant. She definitely knew she had power to threaten Chris in particular and also say these things to him.

Also this goes for Felix. He knew he could act as though Jack didn’t exist because he knew how racist people were. A Chilean immigrant goes missing? Oh well, focus on the white American stealing his work.

Which racism (atp) is the biggest thing there’s a few other things,

Misogyny. Felix can call Rose crazy and fire her and steal her work due to misogyny. Same for Susan- she was a woman. They also both are written to be confident in themselves so of course the men would be insecure and not care.

There are a few other contributing factors for them:

Ableism for Rose. She was mentally ill so of course nobody cared what happened they wanted her out of their sight so they could ‘live normally.’ Also racism- she was happily married to a Chilean man.

Homophobia for Susan. She was openly a lesbian and not insecure about it- based on her writing I’d say she was probably proud. Also transphobia could apply, she’s not canonically trans as far as we know but the thing is- she presents herself very masculine in a time where transphobia was picking up, a lot of people could have assumed she was trans. Which based on her character she probably didn’t care in the slightest.

Ashley is again:misogyny. They could ignore a woman going missing a lot easier in the 70s/80s. Also one of the people looking for her was a black woman so honestly you could probably throw racism in there. I know Kevin is said to be gay by Eva I’m not sure if he was as open about it as Susan though, or if Martin counts this as canon. Again the thing with Brian too, this is after the main set of disappearances where they learned to hide it better.

As for why nobody cared about Charles or Brian:

Brian was seemingly at least somewhat disliked due to him being a ‘milf hunter’ which is really annoying but assuming this is still canon like I believe it is, people may have just thought he was annoying and not really cared (plus this was deep into Felix realizing how to silence people and whatnot)

I honestly can’t come up with really anything for Charles. He was half Italian but this is the 70’s not the 20’s with people hating Italians. Although he very much loved Susan and was looking EXTREMELY hard for her so it could be ‘oh he likes the lesbian he must be gay himself!’ (Which Charles is canonically bi-curious although I doubt this was known)

Also the thing is they didn’t fully cover these up like ever, Jenny mentions Brian and Ashley to Sophie, and we also heard about protests against BSI in My Soul.

Someone could try and ignore this but it’s pretty clear once you take an overview of the series these themes have always been present from the start.

Charles and Sophie

I imagine Jack and/or Rosemary would take the kids to Bons. Sophie would probably like to be a robotic engineer when she grows up so Charles has Sophie help him fix the animatronics while showing her that's how they work while also having her help out around the workroom
