mother and child in a rice field (1943) - fernando amorsolo
Jack Walten is no saint, but the villains of this series will ALWAYS be Felix and Bon. Felix was an irresponsible idiot who tore apart a a family and didn’t learn a thing from it, covering his tracks and going business as usual and Bon, no matter his past, is a monster who took advantage of a grieving woman whom HE widowed, and brutally, horrifically murdered her, dooming her to a painful eternity of staying by his side against her will, (not even mentioning the many other victims Bon has gone on to torment, all innocent.)
Jack is a man of his time but if you think him anywhere CLOSE as evil as the other two men, you’re delusional. As imperfect as he was, he loved his family, and all he wished for is their happiness. His last words were ones of LOVE towards his wife and their remaining child, and even as a spirit, he encouraged her to survive, believing in her. No matter what, deep down he truly believed in her.
It’s why, in my opinion, it’s pretty obvious that Bon is not Jack. True love requires selflessness, and the last time we truly see Jack in the fifth episode, he begs Rose to forget him so she can move forward. Bon, like the selfish creature he is, would rather Rose suffers immensely, lives in agony every second, than be away from him. He’d rather have her with him and broken than healing and away. I hope Sophie gets his ass right after she beats the daylights out of Felix.
