“[...] Em viagens recentes ao Noroeste do Pacífico, fui inspirada tanto pelas majestosas florestas antigas como pelas paredes em ruínas do forte Warden, um posto militar centenário construído para proteger Puget Sound da invasão por mar. Os anos de exposição à água salgada e aos elementos naturais deixaram sua marca nas paredes e as fizeram parecer pinturas. Depois de fazer impressões fotográficas em papel Kozo japonês, costuro sobre o papel camadas de fio metálico até que as fotografias comecem a se transformar em objetos intrincadamente trabalhados, semelhantes a artefatos. O resultado são peças que integram o fio e as fotografias, criando tapeçarias.”
“[…] On recent trips to the Pacific Northwest, I was inspired both by the majestic old growth forests and the crumbling walls at Fort Warden, a hundred year old military bunker built to protect Puget Sound from invasion by sea. The years of exposure to salt water and elements left their mark on the walls and made them look like paintings. After making photographic prints on Japanese Kozo paper, I sew over and into the paper with layers of metallic thread until the photographs begin to turn into intricately worked objects, resembling artifacts. The resulting pieces integrate the thread and photographs, creating photographic tapestries.”
