Look back month challenge
I love the notion of celebrating the dolls that are already in my collection. I cherish all of them and I'm looking forward to looking back.
I'm a day late, but here's
Day 1: Memory
Three dolls from the Herself the Elf toy line, a Tonka Star Fairy, and a Charmkins compact from the 1980s.
Herself the Elf (Herself, the blonde) is my original doll, as are the Star Fairy and compact. (Polly Pocket didn't come along until I was far older than the intended demographic.)
The other two Elf dolls were acquired more recently via eBay. I'm very proud of the hair restoration I performed on all of the above.
Herself the Elf mostly got to play with my Strawberry Shortcake dolls and the singular Moondreamer doll because they were all close to each other in scale and styling.
The Star Fairies are a fascinating study; sold by Tonka, but made by Hornby in the UK. they had gorgeous butterfly wings made with the technology used to make silk florals. I don't still have this fairy's wings, and I keep an eye out online and at the toy shows for replacements.
For those of you who were children when the Disney Fairies were ubiquitous, you might not realize that Fairy-themed dolls were sparce when I was a child. I treasured these Elf/fairy dolls despite the fact that they were too big to be in the dollhouse with my Glamor Gals and Dazzle Dolls, and too small to hang out with Barbie and friends.
