Colour me curious 👀
hi Charms!! well... this was an idea that I had bc of another game where pple would send titles and I'd come up with a story to go with it... I think @merlinsbudgiesmugglers (was that your old name? @merlinsbbeard (if not I'm sorry. lol) came up with that title. Anyhoo, here's a tiny shippet of a ridiculous Muggle story, where James believes in true love and has designed an algorithm for a dating service that promises to find true love, and Lily's a divorce Laywer who's had it with clients who only want to see their ex as unhappy as they can make them. *** "I feel there's a catch," Lily said, her head tilted as she took in the gorgeous man sitting at the bar with her. Their glasses hung in the air, suspended in time, nearly touching but not quite.
"No catch, Evans. Unless you consider finding your match a bad thing" the man said, and his earlier expression of gloom changed before her eyes into something else entirely. He wasn't smiling exaclty, but he was definitely no longer stewing in his anger, either. A dimple appeared and Lily could just tell, from the corner of his mouth twitching that he knew she was staring at him. She really shouldn't. but what was the harm, really? He was, objectively, a very attractive man. She would think so in any case, but after enduring a four-hour meeting with Rodolphus Lestrange and Severus Snape, his soon-to-be ex-wife's lawyer, she felt justified to enjoy the view.
Too late she realised he was still talking.
"...Come again," she said.
Now it was his turn to turn his head and stare at her. A beat later he smirked, and Lily felt her cheeks burn. For some reason she'd been transformed back into her blushing, giggling teenager self. Must be all that wine she had.
"I solemny swear to find you a perfect match, in time for the holidays, or I will accompany you, and do all I can to lighten the burden of your mandatory Company Christmas parties. Oh, and if I can't find you someone in time, as a bonus, I will behave in such a way that any meddling family member will think twice before doing so in the future."
"Don't you see there is a catch, because," Lily began, but just as suddenly stopped herself when she realised what she was about to say.
I win either way
She felt flustered but then her hand moved, their glasses chinked while they were looking at each other. "To finding your true love," James Potter said, at the same time she said, "To proving true love doesn't exist."
