🥳 CORRECT!!! ILLUMI IS AN EXHAUSTED BOY!! 🥳
At point one in this fic, I want to write Illumi's siblings pulling him in multiple directions at once at the beach: Kalluto bit a kid (who tried to take his dolphin floatie) and now Illumi is the focal point of a group of angry moms. He makes Kalluto apologize, which is equivalent to pulling teeth, but also defends Kalluto since he didn't start the fight and demands an apology from the other kid (Kalluto typically prefers blood atonement, but an apology sufficed). Milluki wirelessly hacked into an electric icecream truck and almost drove it off the pier trying to get it to the beach. Illumi BOLTED, and stopped it before it flew off the pier. Killua was feeling down and Illumi wanted to cheer him up! "Whatever game you want, we'll play," Illumi says to his precious baby brother. Killua has an idea. He completely buries Illumi in the sand, all except his head which he put a bucket over, then told Illumi he wanted to quickly grab their camera to take a picture, but purposely left as Kalluto giggled in the background (Kalluto loves Illumi, but also tends to take sides and will usually go along with Killua's shenanigans.) Illumi waited patiently, but high tide arrived sooner than he thought. He pulled himself out of the hole right when Killua and Kalluto returned snickering and carrying with them a big crab (they were going to put it under Illumi's bucket.) Alluka is not with them on this vacation, but has caused Illumi the least amount of problems of the DAY, so she's automically his favorite.
After all of this, Illumi is very tired, collapses on a towel and falls asleep under the sun. He wakes up an hour later, with a sunburn. Except in the areas were Killua and Kalluto played tic tac toe on his back with sunscreen. "But we did put sunscreen on your back like you told us to!" Killua quips, he'll do as he's told but he'll make it everyone's problem for asking him in the first place. At the end of the day, when Psyche is rubbing aloe vera gel on Illumi's back, he tells her that he feels like a single dad lol Illumi will need a vacation, from this vacation!
So the idea of having six kids? OH MY! Illumi is now rethinking some big life choices!
Illumi has been parentified his entire life to think about children, which is something he'll realize on his own after he goes through a burn out at the end of Chasing Summer's Shadow, and leading into the main fic. There are alot of things Illumi believed he wanted, and was reinforced by his parents telling him what he wanted. But Illumi is exhausted, has so long neglected himself that the reprecussions have finally caught up to him. By the present timeline of Where Shadows Touch, when Psyche brings up the topic of children (everyone expects her to make him heirs), Illumi tells her he wants to wait a while and they should just focus on eachother.
Psyche and Illumi will have kids eventually, but that will be a few years later into their marriage <3 Illumi still wants to be a dad, but he now thinks that six is too much! (that can always change, I know that they'll have at least three kids :3)
