Leave Us Kids Alone|OpticMagnet
“Scott, don’t do it.” Logan mumbled under his breath, his arm stopping Scott form leaving his post. “She’ll figure it out.” The older mutant crossed his arms at his chest and observed their students from the glass observation room that looked out into the steel walls of the danger room. He was tired. They were both tired and the students were definitely tired. Despite it being the first day back from a brief hiatus, the kids didn’t seem too enthused about being pushed into drills right away. “
“She’ll figure it out? She’s been avoiding my command for the whole drill! Even Julian is following directions!” He moved in to bring the microphone close to his lips. “Good going, Mr. Keller.” He was praising the young hellion but his eyes remained on Lorna Dane. She had shown great potential ever since the moment she stepped into the school but they never met eye to eye. Out of Erik’s three children, she was the hardest one to make any sort of break-through with. “She’s still not listening.” He looked up at Logan.
“Well, do something about it. You’re the leader!” Even Logan was starting to get frustrated and he spoke into his mic set. “Three minutes, trainees.” Logan grunted. “Ms. Dane, you need to evade!” Logan never gave away the tactics the kids needed to use but time was running out. “You’re right, Slim. Kid ain’t listenin’.” Scott leaned into his mic once more and in a stern voice, he commanded, “Computer, shut off simulation.”
“Shutting off. In 3, 2, 1…” He could hear the groans and complaints from the students. “Now, now! I know you weren’t done. We’re doing the drill again tomorrow. And the next day and the next day until we get it right. Ms. Dane? Please stay behind. I’ll speak to Professor Pryde about you missing the beginning of her class. Thank you.” He stood up from his chair and Logan placed a hand on his shoulder.
“There you go, kid. Nice job.” Logan praised the young leader which was bittersweet to Scott. Sometimes it was difficult to figure out where they stood but since Emma’s passing, Wolverine had been a lot softer. He watched as Logan led the kids out of the Danger Room and he waited for the green haired young woman to walk through the door.
